We have been using bottles since W was just a few weeks old due to the need to supplement with formula. I registered for some
Breastflow bottles and
Tommee Tippee bottles after reading reviews that they were supposed to be best for breastfeeding babies. We received some of both at our baby showers and tried them. The Tommee Tippee nipples collapsed a lot so it was frustrating and those were the first to be put away. The Breastflow bottle work okay but they two part nipple is a bit of a hassle.
Once we moved to using bottles for all of his feedings whether he was getting formula or breast milk, I was not concerned about nipple confusion any longer. I got some "old school" Gerber and Evenflo bottles. Yes, the very affordable ones with standard nipples and none of the fancy bells and whistles. They have really been good to us too. Although I prefer the wide mouth bottles for mixing formula in since I can be a bit messy.
W is beginning to teeth and lately when using the Gerber and Evenflo, he rolls them around his mouth and it takes him a good chunk of time to finish his bottle. I pulled out the Breastflow again and we have been using them without the inner blue part. It works okay for W but the nipple collapses a lot just as it did with the Tommee Tippee. But it seems as though the wider base nipples might be better in general right now because he doesn't roll them around in his mouth. Instead, he eats.
So, I'm looking for suggestions for bottles. This could just be a temporary hassle but if it's not, I would like to consider options that people have experience using. Is there a bottle with a wide base nipple that doesn't collapse all of the time? If you're a bottle user, what do you recommend?
