A to Z Challenge: R is for Red.

Sticking with the cloth diaper theme for the week, today R is for Red diapers! Red is another one of those diaper colors that I adore. The list of my favorite colors includes orange, red, black, gray, and brown. I also love pinks but we're not going down that road yet! Maybe in the future, but for now I will stick with my neutral colors.

On to the red diapers! I own just one red diaper and it is actually a bit large for W right now so he hasn't gotten to wear it. I own a red Happy Heiny pocket. I found some Happy Heinys on sale a few weeks ago and they only had the red in large but I wanted it! W is in size medium right now so we have a while before it will fit him but I still love knowing that it's in our stash!

There are plenty of other red diapers out there that have me drooling! Let's see a few and maybe I'll be able to spread the red diaper love!

Envibum has a red MINKY diaper! Be still my heart! Envibum is a wonderful company because every diaper gives back through a donation to a charitable organization!

AppleCheeks offers a diaper in crimson red. We had two AppleCheeks as part of our newborn/smaller stash and I really liked them! They fit W very early!

Fuzzibunz in watermelon! I haven't had a chance to use any Fuzzibunz so I'm not sure if this is a true red but I love the name!

Rumparooz and Lil' Joeys are available in crimson.

This is just a small selection of red diapers on the market and I have seen a number of adorable red diapers on Etsy and Hyena cart. One worry I have about red diapers is washing with the rest of my diapers. I have a fear that they will turn the rest of my diapers some shade of pink! I did wash our Happy Heiny alone at first but I will probably end up throwing it in with the rest once it's in the rotation!

A to Z Challenge: P is for Prints

Continuing with the diaper theme this week, P is for Prints. One of the perks of using cloth is the adorable prints that are available! When I first began researching when I was pregnant, I admit that I got a little jealous because I was having a little boy and there were so many more cute prints for girls! But that has changed in the past year since I began looking into using cloth. I only have a few diapers in prints and would definitely love to have more if I could justify buying more diapers. If no one has warned you yet, I will go ahead and do it. Buying cloth diapers is very addictive! Even though I don't need more diapers, I am always tempted to buy more when I spot a good deal or see a new cute diaper! But anyway, back to the prints! We have a Thirsties Duo Wrap, a GroVia Hybrid, two Kawaii Snazzy Minkys, and a Sunbaby 3.0.

Our Thirsties Duo Wrap is in the wonderful Blackbird print. I also love the Cool Stripes print as well as the more girly prints.

Our GroVia Hybrid Shell is the Owls print, which I adore. They also offer an airplane print that is very original!

Our Kawaii Snazzy Minkys are two different prints and I'm fairly sure neither are available any longer.

Finally, we have a Sunbaby 3.0.

For the second five, I have tried to narrow it down to five diapers with prints that I would love to have in my stash! Of course, there are many, many more out there as it seems like almost every diaper line now features at least a print or two.

I love the Giraffe prints that Best Bottom offers!

Envibum has recently added some prints and I like them all. The cherry print is pretty cute!

I know I speak highly of Happy Heinys all of the time, but they have some great prints that I would love to have! I like the Glow in the Dark Skulls, but they also have great prints like Groovy Circles!

Blueberry Diapers
has blue, green, and pink camo in minky!

And one of the first prints I ever fell in love with (and I'm not sure why I don't have one) is Rumparooz Gumball! They also have some great new prints I would love to get my hands on.

Of course, this was just a small sample of the wonderful prints that are available and if you buying WAHM diapers, the print possibilities seem to be endless! Just another perk of going the cloth diaper route!

A to Z Challenge: O is for Orange (diapers!)

I decided to focus my challenge posts on cloth diapers this week! So today O is for Orange diapers and I have decided to highlight some of my favorite orange diapers because orange just happens to be one of my favorite colors. The orange diapers in my stash are one Comfy Rumps pocket, two Thirsties Fab Fitteds (one old style and one duo), a Thirsties Duo Wrap size 1, a Rumparooz Lil' Joey, and a few Clementine bumGenius AIOs and OS 3.0s. I would love to have more! This is not a complete list of all the orange diapers available in the cloth diapering world, but there are the few that I own and others that I admire. Here are ten diapers available in orange!

I'll start with the ones I own.

Comfy Rumps pocket in orange

Thirsties Duo Fab Fitted in Mango (we also have an old style Fab Fitted)

Thirsties Duo Wrap in Mango

Rumparooz Lil' Joey in Pumpkin

BumGenius 4.0/3.0 in Clementine (we also have some AIOs in this color)

And here are some I think I'd love to try!

Best Bottom in Orange Sherbet

itti bitti tutto in melon

Happy Heinys in orange

Fuzzibunz in Kumquat

Oh Katy! in Melon

Many other diaper makers make orange diapers as well. Some of these include: Blueberry, Tiny Tush, Softbums, Bottom Bumpers, GroVia, and Monkey Doodlez. If you have any favorite orange diapers that I've missed, I'd love to hear about them!

A to Z Challenge: H is for Happy Heinys (Stash Review)

Back when I was building our newborn stash, I went on a quest for a black diaper. I don't know why I really wanted one, but I did. I think a post on a message board spurred me along on my quest. Of course, I didn't want to pay between $18 and $25 or anything like that. So, I got lucky when I happened upon a sale that had a few black Happy Heinys pockets in stock in size small.

According the Happy Heinys website, the weight range for the size small is 8-16 pounds. Thinking a pocket wouldn't fit for awhile, I didn't try it on W until he was a little over 3 weeks old. Around that time he weighed just under 9 pounds so he was right in the weight range and our Happy Heinys pocket was one of the first pockets to fit (his AppleCheeks did as well).

In his Happy Heiny pocket size small at 3 weeks, 5 days old.

Some things we really like about the Happy Heinys pocket is that it is a pocket and it fit W during his newborn stage. It was nice to have something that dried quickly! I also loved the black color! Check out the Happy Heinys website to see all of the great colors they offer! We also loved the hook and loop on the Happy Heinys and never had a problem with the laundry tabs. Although we never tested it as an overnight diaper, it worked well for us during the day and during naps. We never had a leak.

It wasn't horribly bulky on him, even when he was just a few weeks old. They also do not have leg casings, so it never left a mark on W's legs even as they started to fill out. Ours didn't come with an insert, but that wasn't a big deal as I have a great deal of extra inserts for some reason so I just used those.

We liked our Happy Heinys pocket so much that when I found some on sale a few weeks ago, I went ahead and bought a medium and a large. They did not come with inserts, but were extremely affordable, and we have plenty of inserts. I got a size medium in sage and a large in red. I'm really excited about the red diaper because I have always wanted one. It is too large right now but I look forward to the day that W can wear it!

According to Happy Heinys website, the weight range for the size medium is 14-25 pounds. I believe that W is probably in the 18-20 pound range at this point. Below are photos of him in the medium sage Happy Heinys pocket yesterday at 4 months, 4 days old.

You can see how the there are no leg casings and only the soft fleece of the inner touches his skin! We currently use a Flip stay dry insert and it works very well. We have had no leaks of any kind although we have not tried it overnight.

Overall, we have really liked our Happy Heinys so far. They are not our go-to diaper (those seem to be our BG 3.0s) but they always get the job done when I pull them out of the drawer! In the future, I would love to try one of their one-size diapers, a mini one-size (next baby, obviously!) and also some of their cute prints, especially Glow in the Dark Skulls!

Waiting for fluff!

I haven't bought any diapers in quite awhile. I've been very busy just using the diapers I have on W! Plus, I'm on the unpaid stretch of my maternity leave so I've been trying to watch my money. But I won a giveaway at Marine Parents for a $20 gift certificate to Wee Little Changes so I had a little to spend. Instead of going with something I've tried and am familiar with, I decided to branch out and order something that's new for us. I decided to try the GroVia AI2 system. With the free shipping they offer I only paid $4.95 for a shell with an insert. I ordered the Owls print from Wee Little changes.

I also had some Amazon 20% and $10 codes to use which could be used on the GroVia AI2 as well, so I ordered another shell set with insert for $4.95 (free shipping using Amazon Mom). The Ice color was the one that was available to be fulfilled and shipped by Amazon. I had planned on using some of my Swagbucks gift cards to cover the difference, but I had already saved them on another account so I ended up just paying the $4.95. My swag will be there when I want to buy something else (additional inserts perhaps?) and it will all balance out!

Then I found out that Franklin Goose had some things on sale so I went to check it out. I picked up a pack of GroVia boosters, a medium Happy Heiny in sage, and a large Happy Heiny in red. I don't know if I'll need the boosters but they were very cheap. I'm excited about the Happy Heinys! We had one of the smalls when W was a newborn and it was one of our favorites. I will admit that I only bought it because it was on a great sale and I was able to get a black one! Hopefully we will like the medium and large just as much! I wish they had some of the black in the medium or large, but I'm excited about the red one! I've wanted a red diaper!

I felt good about these purchases since I read a lot about how Happy Heinys make good swim diapers as well. Since they were half off, I spent about $22 for all of it including shipping. I usually try not to pay for shipping but sometimes it works out to be worth it.

My GroVia from Amazon came yesterday, but I'm waiting for the rest! I love waiting for fluffy mail!
