Today I was sitting in the library at my school looking through some of the new books our librarian ordered and I realized that there is one thing I really miss about life before baby and that is having a lot of time to read. I have always loved to read. It was a habit my mother passed on by teaching me to read before I went to bed. It's a habit I hope to pass down to W.
In 2009, I got a Nook for Christmas and my goal was to read 50 books on it in 2010. I came very close to my goal and read 47. I felt pretty accomplished as I was also finishing my grad school program as well. When W was born in December I really didn't have time to read so I read 47 books in more like 11 months. I adore my Nook and I also adore the iPod Touch I got for Christmas this year (2010) because I downloaded the Nook app and can read with just one hand. With my Nook I really needed both of my hands most of the time and W is usually in control of one arm now. Even with my Nook app on my iPod, I still have yet to finish my first book of the year!
I have downloaded a number of books as I run across deals for free or low price books that sound interesting so I have plenty to read if I ever make it through my first book of the year! I also have a number of young adult series books (guilty pleasure alert!) that have new books out so I definitely do not have a problem with books to read!
Alas, I don't seem to have nearly as much time to read. Many nights I'm asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow but W is worth it and I guess I'll just have to lower my goal for the year. Maybe I'll lower it to one and just try to finish the book I've been reading since January!

I have a list a mile long of all the books I've wanted since my toddler was born - one day I'll get to them! Following from The Caffeine Coquette - hope you'll come by and say hello :)
ReplyDeleteI love reading! We don't have kids yet, but we do have a dog, and I have noticed even since then a decline of my reading! I can only imagine what a child will do!
