A to Z Challenge: L is for Looking Back

It is amazing how quickly time passes. W is already 4 months old and sometimes I have to wonder where the time has gone. It seems like just yesterday I found out I was pregnant when in reality it was a year ago. So many things have changed in the past year so L is for Looking Back.

A little over a year ago, I found out I was pregnant and took my first picture at 4 weeks pregnant. This is the body I aim to get back to at some point in 2011.

By 37 weeks and full term, I was feeling the pregnancy although everyone liked to comment about how small I was still. I didn't feel small! I have photos from 38 weeks and 39 weeks (while in labor) but could only find this photo.

My body definitely went through a lot of changes in those 35 weeks. It was an amazing experience and having W in my life makes every change worth it, even as I struggle to get back in shape now.

W was born at 39 weeks and was a skinny little thing! We didn't have many newborn clothing options because everyone had told me that we wouldn't need them. They said he would grow out of them within days! They were wrong and he swam in 0-3 for quite awhile!

Now he is over 4 months old and is my little chunk. Instead of sleeping all the time and waking up to eat, he is awake much of the day though he still loves to eat and gets excited when a bottle is headed his direction!

It's amazing what a few months can do to a woman's body and to a little bitty baby! Being pregnant and having my first child has been an amazing experience. I've learned a lot and hopefully everything I learn with W will help me be more prepared for any other children we are blessed with, but I have a feeling that each child is so unique that it will be like the first time again!

I still try and think back to my birthing experience every so often. I do my best to remember as many details as I can. I want to remember how it felt to first hold W in my arms. I didn't know how I would react and I was just amazed. I was amazed that the little guy who had been kicking and hiccuping away inside of me for months was finally in my arms.

I try to value each day I have with him and I have been taking an absurd amount of photos, but I love being able to look back at where we've been and think of everything I've learned and everything we've overcome. We've had our ups and downs but W is healthy and happy. In the end, that is all that matters.
