I Love My Mommy Mother's Day Event 2011 Sponsor Spotlight & Review: ITZBEEN

I Love My Mommy
Mother's Day Event 2011
Sponsor Spotlight:
ITZBEEN

The ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer was developed by a set of new parents who found themselves exhausted and needing help to remember baby care details, such as when their baby last ate or napped. They tried charts and journals, but thought there had to be a better way. I can completely relate to this as I was extremely obsessive about journaling everything about W's early days. It started with the paper the midwife sent home with me to track the diapers and feeding times. Once that paper was full, I started journaling it on a steno pad. It got very complicated once I was breastfeeding, then supplementing, then pumping. Add in recording all of that information and it was a continuous cycle of exhausting proportions!

The ITZBEEN Timer has four timers that can be used to track the amount of time that has passed since baby's diaper was changed, baby was fed, and when baby fell asleep or has been awake. The fourth timer is available as an extra timer to meet your needs!
The timer also has a switch for breastfeeding mothers to help you keep track of which side you are on. This would have been wonderful for me back when we were nursing! I had moments where I had no idea what side I should be putting him on! It also features a nightlight at the top and a back lit display for all of those middle of the night fumblings!

Another feature I really like is that the ITZBEEN allows you to set a reminder alarm for each timer so if the maximum amount of time is reached, an alarm will sound. I have a friend with a newborn now who is having weight issues so they are having to feed her at least every two hours. This would be a wonderful feature for them!

The ITZBEEN Timer is also extremely portable and has a clip on the back to allow you to attach it to you or the diaper bag or anything it can clip on! It also has a lock button to prevent the timers from being accidentally reset. It also comes in three colors: green, pink, and blue. There's something for everyone!

One drawback I found was when I removed the batteries (3 AAA) the power obviously went off. When I put the batteries back in, I had to reset the clock. Setting the time was pretty simple but it I would love if it would have some sort of memory to hold the time for the minute it takes to change the batteries. I also wish it only took two batteries. I hate having an extra stray battery floating around!

I enjoyed using the ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer to track when the last time W was changed and fed. Even though it's not as essential for us now and we really just follow his cues, it is nice to have a general idea. Then when he gets fussy, we can prioritize what we check on first! I look forward to having the opportunity to use this for the newborn stage when we have our next little one. I think it may help me calm down a bit with my obsessive journaling. Either that or it will just be a new component!
